The fourth annual Miss Gay Monroe America pageant was held on Apr. 24 at Hott Shotz. This is one of the two preliminaries that are held at Hott Shotz for the Miss Gay Louisiana America pageant to be held in Alexandria in September. Capturing the title of Miss Gay Monroe America 1998 was Cassi Welch. Cassi is from Monroe and just recently moved back from San Antonio, Texas where she was Miss Texas Newcomer of the Year. Cassi is a cast member of Hott Shotz and also the DJ at Hott Shotz. First Alternate was another cast member of Hott Shotz, Burgundy DuBois from Ruston, La. We are proud of both of you and wish luck in the Miss Gay Louisiana America Pageant.

On Fri., May 15 Hott Shotz is giving a benefit show for Carrione Synclaire, Miss Gay Louisiana USofA 1998. The benefit will feature such local performers as Brittany DeMarcoff, Somora Welch, Cassi Welch, LaPorscha St. James, Burgundy DuBois and several others. Part of the door proceeds will go to Carrione and all the entertainers' tips will go to help her at the Miss Gay USofA pageant to be held in Dallas at the end of May. Coming on June 26 is the third annual Miss Louisiana Gay Pride America pageant, special guest will be Miss Texas America, KOFI--Miss Gay Louisiana America, SYLVIA SCARLETT, Miss Gay Monroe America 1998--CASSI WELCH. Giving up the title of Miss Louisiana Gay Pride 1997 is also the reigning Miss National Apollo-Kandy Cain. Anyone interested in entering this pageant should contact Sylvia Scarlett, Rick Martinez or the bar manager.

Hott Shotz would like to recognize all of its employees: manager Jay Banks has been with Hott Shotz since it opened in August 1992, assistant manager Courtney Dozier, also the best female bartender anywhere in North Louisiana, has been with the bar since Aug., 1994. DJs Jerry Laing and Brandon Steed spin your favortie sounds of the ninety's. The other bartender is none other than the comic John Gonzales (Somora Welch, Miss Hott Shotz 97-98). She(he) will always make you laugh no matter what mood you are in. He is the comedian of Monroe. Checking your IDs is Jennifer Reid (remember, you must have a valid ID to enter Hott Shotz). She does a wonderful job and keeps everyone in line in the foyer area. Manager Jay would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the employees for all of your hard work. We have a great crew at Hott Shotz. Hott Shotz would also like to thank Jay's lover Stevey for all the work he does at the bar when we get busy. Jay really thanks you.

This is to all the customers of Hott Shotz: thank you for your continued support of the bar in the past six years. We are aware that the remodeling is late and you probably have given up on it, but trust me IT WILL HAPPEN!!!!
