$450 Raised
for Food For Friends Honoring Miss DoThe giant re-grand opening of the Double Play by new owners Chuck Turner and Bill Miller celebrated the late Miss Do's Annual Birthday Extravaganza and Buffet. Some 200 party guests poured into the intimate neighborhood bar located at 439 Dauphine.
Close and long time friend Charlie Hooper from Biloxi, Mississippi, came in for the celebration and donated $150 in honor of Miss Do's memory to Food For Friends. Ambush and, Chuck and Bill, on behalf of the Double Play, matched the donation and will present the entire $450 during the 1st Annual Outer Loop Memorial Day Bar Crawl set to kick off at the Double Play Mon., May 28, 4pm.
Co-manager Doc welcomed revelers to the festive re-grand opening and praised Miss Do's memory running a $1 Bud Light special for the evening. Bud Light was Miss Do's favorite beverage. Then Doc opened the buffet for party guests.
Many of Miss Do's best friends were in attendance as were friends and patrons of Chuck and Bill. The huge buffet was replenished at least five times, since it is Chuck and Bill's policy to never run out of food during one of their celebrations. The fellas also own Angles and 4 Seasons in Metairie, as well as Billy's in Slidell. Some of the buffet highlights included shrimp/artichoke/tortellini salad donated by Petunias, shrimp scampi, king crabmeat with cocktail sauce, cocktail meatballs, barbecued smoked sausage, hot wings, deviled eggs, pinwheel sandwiches, jambalaya and loads of individually assorted sweets.
