Pensacola Brings in 50,000 Revelers
Memorial Day Weekend

Pensacola raked in millions of dollars as 50,000 revelers poured into the beautiful beach community for the giant GLBT Memorial Day Weekend, according to local television stations. Escambia County officials estimated the beach crowd at some 50,000. Johnny Chisholm and Oz New Orleans brought an array of circuit activities to the area, chock full of entertainment spectacles, benefiting local charities, Art Against AIDS and Appetite for Life.

The weekend kicked off as several thousand participants came to Hampton Inn on the Beach Friday for the annual Bounce party. Miller lite provided free beer for the giant bash while DJ Lydia Prim kept the crowd moving. Flo and the Rave Dancers were a tremendous hit again this year.

Later that evening was the first Wave circuit gala on Pensacola Beach for the guys, complete with music by DJ Joe Gauthreaux, and wild entertainment by Kitty Meow and Vernessa Mitchell. The evening's huge fireworks display over the water was a smash success, especially since Escambia County officials would not issue a permit. However, ever resourceful Johnny Chisholm was issued a permit from the US Coast Guard to shoot the fireworks from state waters in the Gulf of Mexico, versus county waters.

The first girl party, Goddess, hit town with DJ Mary Pappas along with Flo and the Rave Dancers. The warehouse, at 212 E. Garden St., recently purchased by Chisholm, was transformed into a fubu circuit club.

Saturday brought Luna back for the women, along with the well-known pair of guitar-strumming harmonizers, Halcyon. Hit DJ Mary Pappas kept the action moving before and after Halcyon's appearance.

The boys headed over to the Bayfront Auditorium for Beach Maneuvers. Circuit DJ Abel kept this crowd jumping, while the first act Acrobazia stunned revelers with the agility of these two fine tuned beefy boys. Later, Deborah Cooper popped in for an action performance.

Sunday Goddess Returns closed out the weekend for women with the talents of DJ Mary Pappas and Halycon.

And the giant Abracadabra bash at the Pensacola Civic Center again proved to all why this spectacle won Circuit Party of the Year in 2000. Chisholm and his army of staffers made this party unbeatable with the latest technical advances available in both visual and sound. In addition to the thousands and thousands of hot circuit boys and girls, circuit DJ giant Manny Lehman never let up for a second pumping one hit out after another. The entertainment presentations were unsurpassed as Dreamcast, acrobat Chris Lashua, Rubio and Kidd Madonny hit the stage. And how could we forget the triumphant closing fireworks spectacular?

Over 500 Join 1st Outer Loop
Memorial Day Bar Crawl
in New Orleans

Returning to the Crescent City on Monday, we arrived just in time for the start of the 1st Outer Loop Memorial Day Bar Crawl. Over 500 revelers participated in the event sponsored by Miller Lite and Skyy Vodka.

Five popular clubs got together for this festive bar run, very reminiscent of a scaled down version of Southern Decadence. Wouldn't it be something if the Double Play, Corner Pocket, Ninth Circle, Voodoo and 735 may have just created another giant GLBT holiday for New Orleans? Already more bars and clubs want to join next year's event!

The bar crawl kicked off at Double Play with hot dogs and all the fixin's. Lovely Klorocks Bleachman was all done up with velcro since the campy picnic game here for prizes was stick the nipples on Klorocks. Missy [SDGM Tony] was the first victim and that kicked off the festivities.

Next up was the Corner Pocket who chose one of the most hilarious picnic games, bite the weenie. Yes, Michael and his gang hung wieners on strings three feet above competitors who had to jump up and take a big bite to win. Of course, what visit to the Pocket would be complete without those world famous dancin' boys.

Ninth Circle brought Kabrina Watson out for a quick number and some of the Corner Pocket Dancers jumped up for a little action here too. Even Cow-Vicky and her gang were in the house for the festivities.

Over at Voodoo SDGM Smurf had two games ready for revelers: dress the Barbie and prick the Voodoo [doll that is]. It was hilarious.

Then the gang headed on over to the last stop, 735. The drunken crowd chose the 1st "Crawler with the Craziest Costume" and the winner was Misa Wong taking home $150. The gang kept things going late into the night here.

All 144 crawler T-shirts and loads of prizes were given away during the festivities.
