LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANAFireworks lit up the nights of Lafayette's Independence weekend. It seems as though everyone was out and celebrating in full force. Our local clubs provided something for everyone.
July 4 was also Taunte Nelson's birthday. Nelson, don't feel too bad about not remembering all the events of the evening. This time the camera was working and there are plenty pictures to help jog the old memory. Some can be printed and there are some, which will remain under double lock in the Ambush picture vault.
The Sound Factory provided a fantastic show, which was highlighted by the performance of Sweet Savage. She illuminated the stage and sent the crowd into an uproar with her talent. Local favorites such as Racine Ross, Stephanie Stevens and Tori Taylor, just to name a few, are others whose performances were the buzz around the bar that evening. There were so many excellent performances that it is impossible to give you a play by play of each. If you missed them, you better have a good excuse. Mark your calendars and make plans to take in a show and see for yourself why so many of our locals are competing in the upcoming Miss Gay Louisiana Pageant. I think we all need to pay more attention and give special regard to the amount of time and preparation that these great performers put into each of the numbers they allow us to enjoy. Thanks girls!
John Gillan, owner of The Sound Factory, has not only provided us with the utmost in entertainment but has staffed his incredible dance emporium with some of the best bartenders in the Acadiana area. In the midst of total madness, these guys always find the time to make each customer feel important. So, whenever you are impatiently trying to order drinks, remember to pay these guys a little respect and say "thank you."
The return of Male Dancers brought much excitement to Jules. This wonderful event is fast becoming a regular, featured attraction. The object of desire on this particular occasion was Dan, the man. All eyes were focused on this blond god wearing a flag thong. That was just a little more than this Ambush representative could handle. This gorgeous hunk not only had a great body and a beautiful face, but a fabulous personality. Believe it or not, I did allow a small portion of time to take notice of this. The remainder of my time was spent appreciating his other assets. In the spirit of the holiday, I saluted as I watched the flag rise to full glory. It's great to be an American.
Jules is in the process of planning several featured events. One of these will be Bartender Drag. It is hard for me to imagine precious Wil as Wilma. Guess I will have to wait and see! Gina, I personally think you are a beautiful girl, but it seems as though you will be getting some competition behind the bar. You can handle it. This is another nightclub that has obviously put a lot of thought into the personnel behind the bar. Where do our local club owners find these great bartenders who are also very pleasing to the sight?
MoJo's and a great music mix should be synonymous. It is impossible to go there and not get totally absorbed in the music and atmosphere. For those of you who consider this place the girls' bar, you have obviously not allowed yourself the opportunity to appreciate everything MoJo Monkey's has to offer. I love me some Dawn and Stevie.
Special Mentions: Donovan, I thought you had forgotten the way from Opelousas to Lafayette. It was great seeing you again. Randal, queen, there are no Gay bars in Hollybeach. It has been too long since our last adventure. John and Jay, I know you two are not in Hollybeach. Where have you been? Charles, you are the best sister anyone could have. Shelton, thanks for an interesting evening. Dan, come back soon! Chili Pepper, I'm sorry I could not make the show. I am sure you all did a spectacular job. Troy, someone needs to hire you as a social director. Paul, welcome back to the Acadiana area.
