AUSTIN, TEXASMichael Fowler Wins
Mr. Austin Leather![]()
Austin Leather Daddies now claim a new title at Chain Drive. Recently, Bartender Michael Fowler won the honor of Mr. Gay Austin Leather competing against 5 other candidates. Along with the title, Michael was awarded $100 cash, a $50 City Grill gift certificate and a leather sash. Categories for the contestants consisted of a private interview process held earlier from a panel of judges with a list of 10 questions. Later that night, contestants sported a leather and fetish/fantasy wear display. Michael's winning entry was when he donned a California Highway Patrol uniform and proceeded to handcuff patrons from the crowd. Speaking of highway patrols, after the interview process and before the night's events, Michael was pulled over that evening on Hwy 183 by a Texas DPS trooper. Because Michael was wearing his leather gear at the time, the trooper waved him on and did not charge him for speeding. It seems this DPS trooper is a family member and has frequented Chain Drive many times before. Allrighty then for the leather troopers in Texas!
As Mr. Austin Leather, Michael now competes for International Mr. Leather 1999 (IML) to be held next year in Chicago in May. This year's IML winner is Tony Mills, Mr. Mid-Atlantic Leather, and was chosen International Mr. Leather 1998 on May 15. Tony won from a field of 62 contestants from six countries, 24 states and Puerto Rico, and was sponsored by the Centaur Motorcycle Club of Virginia. More information on IML may be found at www.IMRL.com. Chain Drive's Michael originally hails from New Zealand while making Austin his home for the last 8 years having bartended between Rainbow Cattle Company and Chain Drive. Michael is a single Aries/Taurus with hobbies including handball, leather, toys, slings, vac pumps, military men, boots and lots of man to man action. Michael is currently looking for a bootblack boy with the interview process already begun.
Michael is 6', 185lbs, 44" chest, 33" waist, blue-eyed and sports a flattop. He also adorns his body with two tattoos on either forearm and has a pierced nipple and a 4GA Price Albert. As Michael stated after winning Mr. Austin Leather, "I am proud to represent the Austin Leather Community at such an event of IML. I hope all come out and show their support." Lastly, when asked about what charities Michael will be supporting and promoting as Mr. Leather Austin, Michael stated the Austin HIV Wellness Center will be his primary focus charity, but others are not excluded. Michael may be found bartending at Chain Drive weekly.
