UCA Coronation Slated;
Reign V A Big Success

Emperor V Bob Hemby, Valiamor-Sioux and Empress V Cecilia Martay, Valiamor-Sioux have announced totals raised for local Austin charities by the United Court of Austin's Reign V, The Reign of Love and Courage. Reign V began in Sept. of 1998 and to date this court has raised in excess of $38,500 for local Austin charities and they aren't done yet. The United Court of Austin operates on a fiscal year ending in Aug. at an annual charity ball called Coronation. A big congratulation goes out to Emperor Bob and Empress Cecilia on a year well done and on the reign to date total. Watch Ambush for the final total of Reign V to be delivered here in Sept.

Coronation is when the reigning Emperor and Empress complete their year and a new pair of reigners begin theirs. Bob and Cecilia would like to invite everyone to attend Coronation VI - The Greatest Show on Earth Sat., Aug. 14, at 6pm. An in-town, out of town pre-Coronation show will be held at the Red Lion Hotel at IH-35 and Hwy 290 on Fri., Aug. 13 at 7pm. Afterwards, the Coronation Annual Bar Run starts after 10pm. Tour buses will first carry coronation revelers to Bout Time, then into Guytown and ending up the evening at RCC. A ticket for Fri.'s pre-Coronation show and bus bar run is $10. Tickets for Coronation can be purchased Sat., Aug. 14 at Red Lion Hotel. The ball begins at 6pm with the doors opening at 5pm. This annual charity event will specifically raise money this year for ALLGO/Informa-SIDA, The Pediatric AIDS League, Project Transitions and the HIV Wellness Center. Coronation brings hundreds of visitors from all over the United States and Canada each year to Austin and this year is shaping up to be one of the most well attended events in history. Make plans to attend Coronation VI for a fun evening of helping those in need within our community. The United Court of Austin is unique in that the community itself gets to elect those who will lead the organization into the next millennium. Candidates for Emperor VI 1999-2000 are David Pearson, and candidates for Empress are VI Ima Hoot (Ken Johnson), and Dee Dee Davis (Dale Bowersock). All candidates will be campaigning for your votes throughout the month of July and Aug. while raising money for charities. Please take time to get to know these candidates and voice your opinion by voting. Any person within Travis County or the surrounding connected counties who has a valid Texas ID which shows residency can cast their vote on Aug. 7 from 9am to 6pm at the HIV Wellness Center. July 4th Weekend Fizzles & Soars

July 4th weekend in Austin had fireworks rocket the city as well as some duds that just fizzled. Austin tried and competed with Dallas and Independance and Houston with their Red, White and You weekends. Austin did hold its own fair share. Most all clubs, bars and business were busy and packed throughout the 3-day weekend. The weekend started out with most of the clubs hosting events. Sat. came with rain but diminished when Coors and the Austin Tavern Guild (ATG) invited all to come out to Freedom ` 99 -The Party featured at Mango's Island Grill. Although the party fizzled in expected attendance, the special guest performer Lonnie Gordon rocked the "private party", as it became, into the night. Despite early sound and equipment failures, Diva Lonnie was a trooper and sang a cappella while technicians scrambled to fix technical difficulties. After this event, friends J.J., Rob, and I traveled to Splash Video Bar where Colt's Man of the Year, Billy Herrington, was to perform at 11pm. Ambush's Vinny was sent to cover Chain Drive's Mr. Austin Leather 2000 Contest, also scheduled at 11pm. As we all discovered, both Billy and Mr. Austin Leather 2000 seem to be on drag time and thus performed late. Vinny left Chain Drive and we left Splash, all tired of waiting and we headed over to the Forum for their CD Release party and balloon drop. This party was at 12 midnight and on schedule. We went back to Splash and got a glimpse of Billy, but not back to Chain Drive. Mr. Austin Leather 2000 Kevin Wheeler is hot.Perfect Day '99 Elsewhere in the city, the Rave of Independence by USK Productions happened at the Austin Music Hall with 6 DJs performing. We never got to attend this event. The night progressed with the boys and me traveling to Oilcan Harry's to check out the crowd, and crowded it was. We only stayed for a few drinks and then it was back over to the Forum to dance the night away. At this time, we sported fashionable glow belts that Rob had made for us all out of clear plastic tubing and red, white and blue 4" glow sticks shoved inside. Together with our glow belts and our special-ordered red, white and blue glow necklaces, we danced atop the boxes and on the floor stopping only briefly for drinks and the boys' room. We danced and entertained all night long and were even "ordered" at one time to get back on the dance floor by Forum mgr. Eric Halley. Gotta love the Forum where they will let one dance on the boxes unlike other clubs in Austin.

Morning came and we all traveled back to la casa for some regrouping. No one went to sleep and it was already Independence Day - July 4th and time for the ATG Picnic held at Waterloo Park. We adorned our Vampire Sunglasses and hit the park. Hurray for the cloudy day and light mist because, honey, if there was full sun, we would melt. We stayed only a couple of hours and finally had to leave to go crash. Congrats goes out to winning v-ball team, George's 3. Overall, the Austin Tavern Guild raised over $2000.00 during the picnic.

The money raised will benefit ATG to host Last Splash, Sun., Sept. 5. Austin's traditional firework celebration on Town Lake had started as I climaxed with my own fireworks as I had stayed home Sun. and ordered in from AOL. Vinny and I ended the holiday weekend at Charlie's Austin on Mon. Ok, what's next? Oh yea, Chapter 3 - The Boston Boy and Clifton. Remember Chapters 1 & 2 from First Splash and Meltdown? Stay tuned for more as it unfolds.
