he season is upon us and everything is in full swing for Labor Day weekend. The Official Southern Decadence Press Party was hosted by new Southern Decadence Grand Marshal XXXII Donald "Donnie 'Jager' Jay" James on July 25th kicking off the 33rd Official Southern Decadence celebration.Party goers arrived in droves at Ninth Circle at Congo Square which had been transformed into an electric blue, silver and black oasis, the colors of this year's Decadence celebration. Karbin Paul, better known as Kabrina Watson, was responsible for the festive decor.
Bywater Mike Murray and his Bywater Bar.B.Que/Lorenzo's catered the affair under the special instructions of the grand marshal.
There was quite a buzz in the club as many guests began arriving in yellow tee shirts which had a unicorn emblem with SDGM XXXII Donnie Jay embroidered underneath. The crowd would learn that those wearing these special shirts were in the grand marshal's official parade entourage. We were so honored and excited when Donnie Jay asked us to be part of her personal entourage. All we can say is that the beginning of this year's Official Southern Decadence Parade on Sun., Sept. 4th, will go down in history with some 25 individuals in the grand marshal's entourage. Mum is the word, so ya'll will have to be at the parade to see this incredible spectacle, all designed by Donnie "Jager" Jay.
But, getting back to the press party, we had a chance to meet Stacie Grace, the rep from Jagermeister, this year's grand marshal's sponsor. She is a beautiful young woman and quite a charmer.
Who would have thought when we dubbed Donnie Jay as "Jager" Jay, that it would stick and end up bringing Jagermeister into the fold of Southern Decadence.

Yes, Donnie became "Jager" last September during the Pride fund-raiser at Starlight By The Park. After downing a record 9 or so Jagermeisters, Jager Jay crossed over and even tried to mount and marry Little Joe, the horse presented by COPS 8 to the 8th District Police Department, a special guest at the Starlight fund-raiser. Now that was decadent! No wonder Rusty chose her.
Oh, we've wandered off again, so now back to the press party once again. What a surprise when Charlie and Maureen Block walked through the door. For those of you who don't know the history of Southern Decadence, Charlie is known as one of the founders and Maureen as the Mother of Southern Decadence. It was Maureen who put together the going away party for Michael Evers 33 years ago which began what is known as the Southern Decadence celebration Labor Day Weekend.
Many other former Southern Decadence Grand Marshals (SDGM) were at the press party as well including SDGM I Frederick Wright, SDGM IV Robert Laurent, SDGM XII Mumbo, SDGM XIII Michael "Fish" Hickerson, SDGM XXV Miss Love, SDGM XXVI Robin Malta, SDGM XXVIII Tony Langlinais, SDGMs XXIX Big Rick and Estelle, SDGM XXX Irish Mike and SDGM XXXI Rusty LaRoux.
Loads of bar barons, celebrities, divas, and legends were also in for the party. Southern Decadence.COM was represented by ourselves, Ambush Mag by Brian Sands and Wally Sherwood, the Whiz by Shayne McClain and Danny McNamara, and The Times Picayune by Steven Forster.
