NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
LaBouche
The popular and steady LaBouche seems to be unstoppable. A recent concert at the House of Blues was proof of their promised popularity. Their new album SOS and dance chart hit "You Won't Forget Me" became a full room chorus. LaBouche, consisting of Melanie and Lane with their new dance troop, was very impressive--no attitude and lots of talent. Not only could they sing, but they could dance. Full choreography, costumes and props! My favorite was seeing Melanie and Lane get right into the dance steps and movements with their dance troop!
In my interview with them I asked what their typical chat with a reporter consisted of? They responded with the samo, samo answers that I hear from many. I told them I want to know the personal side. They liked that a lot. I found out both are straight and both have lovers in the industry, which makes it a little easier to handle the hectic schedule. They have been on the road now for 4 years and their hobbies consist of being gadget kids. I totally relate! Anything new and electronic you just have to have--from headsets to laptops. They collect them all and try to out-do the other. They seem to have a brother & sister relationship and get along great. 3 Snaps to LaBouche!
A Man Known As Chuck
by Madelyn Koehl
Chuck Boudreaux worked at the Bourbon Pub and Parade since October, 1989. He began in security and quickly became a bartender. Chuck was one of the most popular bartenders the club ever had. This was mostly due to his fun-loving nature. Chuck loved to laugh more than anything. He spread his happiness to both his fellow empoyees and the customers. When Chuck was bartending, there was always a party going on.
Before coming to the Pub, Chuck was a florist. His creative talents were put to use at the club as the person in charge of special party and holiday decorations. One of Chuck's many memorable ideas was "Cajun Christmas" which included Santa in a pirogue pulled by alligators flying over the main bar in the Parade.
Chuck's true calling and best expression of himself was realized when he became DJ. His love of music and fun was evident in his creative choices and mixing of songs. He especially loved trash disco, and really enjoyed entertaining the Sunday afternoon crowd at the Pub, with a wide variety of old party songs and his creative ambient videos. His favorite videos followed his sense of humor - clips from "funniest home videos" and cartoons were standards. Chuck also set up his own Web site on which he posted the top ten songs every month to be downloaded and listened to by net surfers. It also provided other music, club, and personal information.
Services were held Tuesday, July 28th followed by internment in Thibodeaux, LA. A memorial party is being planned at the Parade for his friends. It will be scheduled in about two weeks. Please call the Pub for details. 504.529.2107.
