New Online Travel Services
For Gay Community

The SABRE Group and Gay Wired announced recently expanded travel offerings on the Web site Gay Wired, allowing users to book air, car and hotel reservations using Travelocity, the easy-to-use online travel expert. The Web site can be found at www.gaywired.com/travelocity.

"Gay Wired is excited about offering our community the best travel services available on the Internet," said Matt Skallerud, co-founder of Gay Wired. "Through our alliance with Travelocity, we'll also feature special travel packages to the year's most anticipated Gay and Lesbian events, such as the the Black and Blue Party in Montreal in October."

Additional Travelocity features include the ability to find the most affordable airfares and accommodations while on business or vacation through its low fare search engine, FareWatcher Email and the Consolidator Fare directory services.

The "Travel" area on Gay Wired also offers users the most comprehensive source on the Internet for the Gay traveler; from Gay and Gay-friendly hotels and resorts to vacation rentals to a Gay travel calendar and links to other Gay travel guides on the Web.

Gay Wired, founded in May 1995, is one of the leading Internet sites for the online Gay and Lesbian community. Some of the resources offered range from shopping and travel to news and regional directories, making Gay Wired one of the most popular Gay and Lesbian Internet Websites to visit. Recent partnerships include Amazon.com, CDNow, Travelocity, Earthlink, 888 Gay Info and the Gay Financial Network, just to name a few.

Travelocity is owned and operated by The SABRE Group, a world leader in the electronic distribution of travel and travel-related services, and is powered by SABRE, the same global distribution system used by more than 40,000 travel agents worldwide.

Travelocity, the easy-to-use online travel expert, gives users more choices, control, service and security while providing reservation capabilities for more travel providers than any other Internet site with more than 420 airlines, more than 40,000 hotels, and 50 car rental companies. Travelocity is also a leader in online commerce, with such innovations as Shop Safe Guarantee, Flight Paging and Today's Lowest Fares. Since its launch in March of 1996, Travelocity has sold more than 1 million airline tickets. Recent acknowledgements include the prestigious "1998 People's Voice Award" as voted by readers of The Web Magazine.

Gay Pheromone Synthesized--
1st Biotechnology To Identify & Synthesize
Same Sex Pheromones

Scientists at Metagen Labs in Santa Barbara, CA have identified the variations in human pheromone production that cause same sex attraction between men and a similar variation for same sex attraction between women. The scientists discovered the pheromones while researching for the development of a pheromone stimulation supplement. Metagen, which specializes in the research and development of pheromones, has synthesized these 'Gay pheromones' in two forms - one for men and one for women. 248 self-described Gay men participated in a study to test the 'gay pheromone.' 121 men were given an aftershave which had the added pheromone and 127 were given an untreated aftershave. The men were asked to keep a record of all sexual activities during the study. The results indicated that the men who used the pheromone treated aftershave had been much more sexually active. They reported that it was easier to meet men, that their sex lives were more intense, and that their work environments seemed friendlier. There were also several reported cases in which straight men made passes at the Gay subjects in one form or another. A similar study of 237 self-described Gay women found many of the same results. 116 women were given perfume which had the added pheromone and 121 were given an untreated perfume. The women were also asked to keep diaries of sexual and romantic activities during the study. The women who used the pheromone treated perfume reported a much higher incidence of sexual and romantic activity. The women also reported finding it easier to meet women when they wore the pheromone treated perfume.

"By identifying the 'gay pheromone,' we have provided further proof to the world that homosexuality is a biological characteristic. We are very excited to have the technology to synthesize the pheromones as they have many research and commercial applications, " says Norman Pershing, President to the privately funded, Santa Barbara based, Metagen Labs. Metagen announced recently that distribution rights for the new pheromones have already been granted to The Body Temple which plans to market the undetectable scents as a Gay pheromone cologne for men and a Gay pheromone perfume for women, called Le Soir. While the human sense of smell operates on a conscious level using the olfactory epithelium, the subconscious sense of smell, which reads chemical 'signals', is controlled by the vomeronasal organ (VNO). The two 'Gay pheromones' identified by Metagen are believed to send subconscious signals, recognized by the VNO, that stimulate homosexual attraction between humans.
