Austin is the place to be this Labor Day weekend as we are ready to take on the thousands of revelers that will pour into the capital city. Whether it's diving into Last Splash at Hippie Hollow, soaking up the sizzling events, promos and dancers at the clubs, shopping around Austin, sight seeing or hot circuit dancing at the Perfect Day '99 events, Austin is happening! The Austin Tavern Guild (ATG) hosts their annual Last Splash on Sun - Sept. 5 from noon till 4pm at Hippie Hollow - Lake Travis. Last Splash weekend runs from Fri., Sept. 3 through Mon., Labor Day-Sept. 6. Beer, barges, boats, music and hot basking on the rocks like seals all are in store. Free wristbands may be obtained from all ATG members on Sat., Sept. 4 for free beer from the host barge on Lake Travis. Labor Day Weekend also presents Perfect Day '99 (party formerly known as RIP'D) sponsored by Ben Parsley and Splash Productions, Sept. 2-6. Perfect Day '99 starts Thurs. with the "The Tease" to Friday's "Foreplay" on to Sat.'s Margarita's Lake Lounge and then Perfect Day '99 with "Sex in the Park." Oilcan Harry's brings their free buffet from 5-8pm, Momma's Boyz Dancers from 6-9pm with DJ Bang and then their Underwear Party starting at 10pm with free clothes check and after-hours dancing with DJ Dig'M & Bang. Rainbow Cattle Company offers a complimentary buffet at 5pm and DJ David will spin C/W Dancing Music. Splash Video Bar & Ben Parsley and Splash Productions present Perfect Day's 'Foreplay' offering the biggest parking lot party at 9pm. Admission is $10 at the door or free with VIP Pass. DJ Don Bishop (Palm Springs) spins outside on their parking lot and inside can be found DJ/VJ Joel. After-hours is scheduled.
Perfect Day Saturday, September 4: Lake Travis - Hippie Hollow brings Ben Parsley and Splash Productions Perfect Day 'Margarita's Lake Lounge' from 11am - 5pm with DJ Michael Tank. (Houston) Tickets are $60. Austin Music Hall features Perfect Day '99 with 'Sex in the Park' from 9pm - 5am with DJ Roland Belmares (Austin) Tickets are $35 at the door. 1920's Club opens at 6pm till 2 am serving great drinks and appetizers. 'Bout Time offers no show featured, DJ Ben spins at 9pm. Chain Drive features Adult Porn Star Chase Hunter performs with surprises 11pm. DJ Eric spins. Charlie's Austin brings their Pre Last Splash Day Party, open at noon-happy hour 12-9pm - no cover, DJ Tony Spins After-hours. Dick's opens at noon with early bird drink specials till 2pm. The nighttime features Dick's in the Sand Beach Party and Momma's Boyz Dancers from 10pm till 1am. DJ Lil' Debbie spins. Last Splash Day - Sunday, September 5: Twist Nightclub brings early Sun., Ben Parsley and Splash Productions Perfect Day's 'Bump & Grind' hosted with DJ Marton‚ Laurence (Miami) spinning from 4:30am - 10am. Tickets are $10 at the door. Last Splash '99 - Hippie Hollow - Lake Travis - Noon to 4pm features music, free beer and fun sponsored by the Austin Tavern Guild. Perfect Day ' 99 wraps-up on Sun. with 'Climax' at La Zona Rosa from 10pm till dawn. DJ David Knapp (New York) will be pumping the beat. Tickets are $30 door. 1920's Club opens at 4pm till 10pm serving great drinks - no food on Sun. 'Bout Time opens at 2pm. Chain Drive offers Holiday Grill from 4-8pm on the patio with drink specials till 11pm; DJ Eric spins afternoon while DJ Don spins night. Charlie's Austin - Last Splash Day Sunday offers doors open at noon, happy hour 12-9pm - no cover, BBQ on the patio - After Last Splash- 4-8pm, MANWATCH Dancers 6pm till Close. The night concludes with their Super Sunday Show with Lauren Taylor and guests -11:30pm, DJ Tony spins After-hours. Dick's opens at noon with early bird drink specials till 2pm. till 2pm and then at 5pm, there is a Complimentary cookout, Karaoke from 9pm on with Madam Murrah. Tea with great drink specials till 11pm. Margie's free cookout on the patio starts from 5pm till 8pm. Their Brewfest starts from 5-10pm and Momma Boyz Dancers are from 6-9pm, 10:30pm and then again at 12 midnight. DJ's will spin. Rainbow Cattle Company features DJ C/W Dancing - 9pm till close. Splash Video Bar offers after Last Splash no cover and complimentary food buffet on the patio. The night brings a special surprise. 'Bout Time offers PMS Happy Hour with Miss Paula and then its Karaoke at 8pm with Madam Murrah. Chain Drive is open now on Mon.'s these days at 2pm, Wresting on the big screen featured. Charlie's Austin - Manic Labor Day Monday closes out the weekend with doors open at noon, happy hour 12-9pm - no cover, DJ Tony spins, Wet Underwear Contest with Heather Thomas - Cash prizes -12:30am. Dick's opens at noon with early bird drink specials till 2pm. Labor Day Mon. features bartenders Patrick and Shawn playing the Blues with great drink specials due to happy hour on everything all day and night long. Gaby and Mo's provide their coffee and drink bar specials open from 7am till 12pm. The Forum offers their After-Splash Recuperation Party with great drink specials. Starting from 9pm -12 Midnight its Ladies for Ladies Beach Blanket Bash featuring live bands benefiting Girls World Breast Cancer Benefit. Cover at door to go to proceeds. Baptist Retreat on Tap
The 3rd annual Gay/Lesbian Baptist Retreat hosted by Open Circle of Austin and Honesty/Texas of Dallas will take place Sept. 18-19, at the University Baptist Church (UBC). The retreat is open to Gays/Lesbians of all denominations. The theme of this year's retreat is "Rebuilding the Bridges" to bring all of God's people together in spiritual renewal. The cost of the retreat is $25. Dr. Rembert Truluck, author, teacher, and preacher living in Oakland, CA will be the featured speaker. Dr. Truluck's latest book, Steps to Recovery from Bible Abuse, "A Response to the Abusive Use of the Bible Against Gays and Lesbians and All Others Oppressed and Alienated by Religion," was released in July.
