To Whom it may concern:
Well I can only imagine that all of you directly involved in Southern Decadence are scrambling like crazy getting any and all last minutes details straightened out before the nearly estimated 60 to 70, 000 revelers descend up your fair city to engage in all sorts of parties, orgies, and all other related forms of debauchery. I wish I were going however here in San Francisco, we will be busy with our own events/ fundraisers that particular Labor Day weekend, Not to mention gearing up for our own Leather weekend culminating with the world famous FOLSOM STREET FAIR on Sunday September 26, 1999 and the INTERNATIONAL MR. DRUMMER CONTEST on Saturday September 25, 1999.As a leatherman first and foremost I am extremely delighted that our own leather columnist/leader and leather activist himself none other than Mr. Marcus (The Merciless) Hernandez of the Bay Area Reporter will in fact be there in your fair city, for all those world renowned, simply deliciously DECADENT goings on that weekend. It also appears that International Mr. Leather-1992 Lenny Broberg from S.F. along with Mr. S.F. Leather-1999 Mr. Werner Tillinger and his other half will be coming to New Orleans for Southern Decadence-1999 and especially for the Mr. & Ms. Lousiana Leather 1999 contest and related activities leading up to the actual contest itself.
I guess as for me, I'm going to have to start planning after the Labor Day weekend here in S.F. to make it my business to travel to your wonderful city for the year 2000, if from what I've heard from others here in S.F. and throughout Northern California is true than it is quite obvious that Southern Decadence should rank right up there with major events that I MUST ATTEND in the Future. I'll definitely look forward to the report I get from Mr. Marcus on how he was treated in your city while he was there.
Take and Congratulations on 28 years of hardwork, dedication, and commitment! Sincerely Yours in Leather Brotherhood & Pride --Mr. Keith Truitt, San Francisco, California, keitht@informix.com
Subject: NO/AIDS Annual Walk
From: brian sands
Greetings Sunday, September 19 is the 10th annual NO/AIDS Walk to raise money for the NO/AIDS Task Force. The Task Force has been around since 1983 and does much good work including maintaining a statewide phone line, providing HIV counseling and testing, offering medical and mental health services, delivering healthy hot & cold meals to afflicted people throughout the area and many other services. The money raised by the Walk goes to support not only these efforts but a portion of it is distributed to other AIDS organizations in Louisiana. Since 1990, $317,000 of Walk money has been given to such other organizations.
For the 9th time (I missed the first Walk), I'll be walking to help this worthy cause. Actually, I'm volunteering as a Course Monitor-they give me a STOP/GO sign so I can control traffic at an intersection (scary thought, isn't it?). However, I DO walk the whole course bringing up the rear with the other Monitors and collecting some of the course decorations as we follow the walkers.
If you would like to sponsor me for this very worthy cause, it would be greatly appreciated. Every bit helps-NO amount is too small! So if you could send a check to arrive by Sept. 18, payable to "NO/AIDS Task Force", to me at: 919 St. Philip, #11, New Orleans, LA 70116 that would be GREAT!!
I'll be on Prytania at either Bordeaux or Valence near the doggie pit stop ruled over by my friends Tom & Charles. If you're out that day, stop by and say "Hi"!
If you have any questions, give me a holler. Many thanks, --Brian

Comments about GayNewOrleans: Southern Decadence sounds like a absolutely fantastic event, some friends of mine here from San Francisco are attending this year and one of them is a premier Leather/Levi/community activist who has been part of and very heavily involved in the Leather scene for over 30 years and this will be his first time in your city for Southern Decadence-1999. My friend's name is Mr. Marcus Hernandez and he is a world renowned Leather columnist for the major Gay & Lesbian paper here in S.F. (THE BAY AREA REPORTER). Mr. Marcus or as many of us affectionally refer to him as ( Marcus the Merciless One) will be one of the judges for the Mr.& Ms. Louisiana Leather-1999 contest and I am looking forward to his report on how he found his first trip EVER to New Orleans and what his impressions were of Southern Decadence. Who knows with a little luck and if I start saving up after the Labor Day weekend this year I too might be taking my first trip ever to your city to see for myself.
