New Orleans Loses Big Reginaregina

Friends throughout New Orleans were saddened with the sudden death of French Quarter legend Regina. Regina, affectionately known as Big Mamou, Regina Boom Boom and Big Regina, passed away on New Year's Day.

The campy legend performed throughout the Quarter, dedicating her repertoire to mostly forgotten golden oldies. Although TT's was the site of her last gig, this showgirl guest starred at Wolfendale's, Footloose, Mother Bob's, Corner Pocket, MRB, Roundup, Golden Lantern, plus many other venues over the years.

Cafe Lafitte In Exile, 901 Bourbon St., is hosting the Pink Flamigo Party, Sat., Jan. 23, 10pm, benefiting the Regina Burial Fund. New Orleans' star Essence Holliday will M.C. the event. Regina's favorite eyewear collection included an outrageous set, complete with a pair of flamingos.

New Orleans will never be the same without party girl Regina Boom Boom.
