Forwarded Message: Subj: Re: About your Full page Ad in Ambush
From: MissJaffa
To: OZParade@aol.com
Eric-I am not a fan of TWIT (This Week in Texas) by any stretch of the imagination and only read it to see what they have written and to see my horoscope. (It's in them stars, Chica.) Over the past couple of weeks, I have watched as the idea of Ambush has spread across Austin. Granted, there are still a lot of people who don't know what it is or pick it up on a regular basis. But truth be told, an ad in TWIT gets lost between the spread of 1-900 #'s. You have a very good product.

A real newspaper in column format as compared to gossip tidbits is in need. Re: advertising, I also believe that an ad in Ambush is more likely to be read. I need not point out the beauty of having an ad read in New Orleans where to many we serve as the get-away. We also are now bringing in the circuit DJs at the rate of one per month. I absolutely plan to continue the ads for New Orleans because I can see us getting some people in town for these special events. I am curious to see how the ad will turn out in print. I will keep you posted. Love,
--Jaffa

Dear Rip, Marsha, Sonny, et al:
AmBush Magazine's involvement in the gay community is well known, as is the personal commitment of each of you. Your numerous contributions through AmGrants, your fundraising for N.0 Aids, your assumption of the Gay Appreciation Awards, etc., your registration as New Orleans' First Couple, the many numerous free memorials and obituaries for deceased members of our community, and other charitable acts are legendary. However, with the recent capture of Jesse Hamilton [Adams] at Good Friends bar in the French Quarter, it is obvious you have made an even greater contribution to the gay community. Your extensive coverage of this killer's possible presence in New Orleans created a vital awareness in the gay community that led to his arrest. Well Done AmBush Magazine!

Well done, Sonny! I just saw the report on Channel 4 about your part in the capture of Adams. Great job Sonny, and it really improves the image of the Gay community, and Ambush in particular, as being responsible citizens instead of just a bunch of screeming queens. Regards,
--John

Hey Girl ... this is the "other" Becky frm Shreveport .... You won't remember me ... but one little incident changed my life and name forever ...Friends and I were watching your show one day at The Mint .. and I was mesmerized...Later that night or weekend you waltzed thru Goodfriends and I screamed out it's Becky Allen ... and you turned and the flashbulbs went off .. and you and I were captured on film for life!!!! People said I looked like the male version of Becky .. and started calling me Becky from that day forward.(this was in '94).. and it has stuck ... I don't know if it is a compliment or curse .... Ha! ... And everytime I hear the name Becky I think of the original and best Becky Allen ...Girl you are an influence ... just wish I could sing/dance and act like Becky!!!!! OK .. gonna run .. but if u ever hear your name being screamed out again .. just know that there are TWO Becky's! One,in NOLA and the other in Shreveport! Later Girlfriend!

Subject: "OUTING" GARY BAUER AND RALPH REED
Hi, folks!
When you have the time, I would really appreciate your reading my essay on the propriety of "outing" Gary Bauer and Ralph Reed, solely on the basis of our collective "gaydar," in the current edition of my Internet column-"Sam Garrison's DOORWAYS"-which you can access at "http://www.joes.com/home/Doorways".

I know it's a long read, but I think you will find it stimulating and worthwhile. This is simply not a subject which lends itself well to "soundbites." After you've read it, please reflect on it, and if you agree that it's high time we go after these closeted hypocrites who do so much to hurt us, then please help circulate the column, or at least its message, as much as you can, in whatever way you can, as soon as you can.

What if, in the next month or so, we could get the whole country talking about this? Think what effect that would have on other closeted gay-bashing politicians ... and ministers! C'mon, let's start putting those guys out of business! Your feedback, of course, is most welcome. Just don't ask me to take this column off the Net, 'cause I ain't gonna. Thanks,
--Sam Garrison
