French Quarter Community:

Mardi Gras 2005 is in the books. Our preliminary numbers show a 14 percent decrease in overall crime for the Mardi Gras period. I think things went well, however some areas could be improved. We did have some issues with the personnel who positioned the barricades to restrict entrance to the FQ. Our Mardi Gras critique will address this and be better for next year. I know projected numbers for Mardi Gras attendees are down, but we arrested approximately 100 people less than last year. The support of area businesses and residents was once again outstanding. Thanks for all the support which helps make this job enjoyable for the Officers of the 8th.

Subject: Oh my goodness

Apparently, I did not see that heinous letter to the editor. What a weirdo! It makes me wonder what he thinks is beautiful? Apparently not much. I truly hate evil things like that dribble. I love you and respect you more than you know and I know Sam does also!

Subject:Fredericksburg article

I wanted to thank you very much for all of the favorable comments on Fredericksburg Brewing Company! A friend of mine told me that we were mentioned, and I picked up a copy Saturday night at RCC. I am so glad that your group had a great time here! Perhaps in the near future you will be my guest at our new Hangar Hotel here in Fredericksburg as well. Thank you again!

Subject: Re: Religious Homosexuals

Dear Editor:

It seems to me that there have been plenty articles on the problem the homosexual civil rights movement has with extremist Christians who use their beliefs, based on the Bible, to attack homosexuals, as they used the Bible to support slavery and then forced separation of the races.

There are, however, organizations in most of the major religions and churches, of homosexual men and women who remain religious and work to change the views of their churches.

I urge you to have an article on such people and organizations. I have seen a mention of a meeting of such groups I beliee held in August of 2004 in Minneapolis.

And there are publications/newsletters for many of these organizations that your readers might find of interest, to help understand those who remain religious inspite of the anti-gay views in most of the churches.

Sincerely, --Billy Glover, Bossier City LA

Comments about GayAmerica: My son is gay and I am so ashamed of him that I tell everybody that he is NOT gay he is just confused. I deny any and everything that disrupts the fantasy world I live in. You all should be ashamed of being gay.
