a Merry Month of May:
Fiesta D'Mayo & 2 Theatre Parties

Petronius' energetic captain, Mickey Gil, writes that the krewe is gearing up for the month of May with the main event being the krewe's annual Fiesta D'Mayo and two theatre parties with the opening night of Le Chat Noir's new comedy, As Bees In Honey Drown, and the new Producers Circle production of the musical revue, Nighttime Naughties.

Fiesta D'Mayo will be held on Sun., May 20 at Oz from 1pm to 6pm where, for only $7 one may partake of the all-you-can-eat Grand Buffet prepared by Petronius' gourmet members. There will also be a large auction of art pieces, antiques and collectibles including some rare, signed theatre and music memorabilia. There will also be a raffle and a floor show featuring krewe members and special guests.

Douglas Carter Beane's hilarious comedy, As Bees In Honey Drown, about the snookering of a Gay writer by an outrageous "agent" played and produced by Francine Segal with Peter Callahan as the hapless would-be Gay celebrity has its New Orleans premiere May 10, 8pm, at Le Chat Noir and Petronius is sponsoring this opening night. Tickets are available at $20 each from any krewe member or by calling 504.525.4498.

The krewe of Petronius will also sponsor a preview performance of the Ricky Graham/Fred Palmisano musical revue about life in New Orleans, circa 1920, called Nighttime Naughties, which was originally performed at the old Beverly Dinner Theatre, and which will star Becky Allen at the newly refurbished True Brew Theatre on Julia St. Tickets for this exciting night of theatre are also available from any krewe member or by calling 504.525.4498.

Captain Mickey Gil also wishes to remind all that new members to the oldest Gay Mardi Gras organization will be accepted Thurs., Apr. 26, 6:30pm, at Voodoo in Congo Square and says, "The board and the members would like to welcome our newest members, Pat Skelly, Sylvia Frank and Dixie Fasnacht."
