Bartender of the Month (September 2026)

September 29, 2026 By Tony Leggio

The hospitality community in New Orleans is enriched by remarkable individuals, particularly the bartenders who exemplify warmth and professionalism.

Among them, Kory Poole stands out as an exceptional figure in the industry.

Originally hailing from Houston, Kory relocated to New Orleans in 2015 and has been a part of Oz New Orleans since August, following a decade of experience with Good Friends and Woods Enterprises Management. His work schedule at Oz is dynamic, reflecting the vibrant entertainment scene, and he takes great pride in working alongside the esteemed Chi Chi Rodriguez, a former Southern Decadence Grand Marshal and the venue’s General Manager.

Kory expresses his enthusiasm for bartending at Oz, highlighting the inviting atmosphere and the crucial comfort of air conditioning during the sweltering summer months in the Crescent City.

Behind the bar, he is a formidable presence, known for his speed, efficiency, and engaging personality. His combination of charm, good looks, and unwavering professionalism has made him a favorite among patrons.

Kory attributes his success to his smile, which he humorously claims helps him navigate any mishaps. With a solid foundation in cocktail crafting, he has honed his skills in creating exquisite martinis and margaritas, recognizing that the art of mixology is increasingly rare. While his go-to drink is typically Jack Daniels and Coke, he enjoys indulging in a tequila cocktail when he wants to be bougie.

When asked about the most astonishing experiences he has encountered as a bartender, his response reflects a common sentiment among those working in the French Quarter. With 18 years of experience behind the bar, he claims to have witnessed a wide array of events, including proposals, divorces, reconciliations, and numerous plot twists, all accompanied by plenty of laughter. His greatest frustration arises when patrons who have been waiting in line for an extended period still take their time deciding what to order, leaving him to wonder what they have been discussing all that time.

Additionally, a delightful aspect of Kory’s personality is his passion for karaoke, earning him the nickname “Koryoke,” a title he embraces thanks to the influence of his karaoke partner, Terrioke.

For a memorable cocktail experience, one should definitely visit Kory at Oz New Orleans, located at 800 Bourbon Street.
