Bartenders are among the most pleasant individuals I have encountered. They interact with a diverse range of personalities, making a friendly demeanor and a positive outlook essential. This month, I would like to highlight one of the most amiable bartenders I know. In addition to his engaging personality, he is professional, humorous, and attractive. I am referring to Joshua Quinn from The Page.
Originally from New Orleans, Quinn has spent approximately seven years at The Page, where he began his bartending career. He has made significant strides in this field. Not only does he possess the skills to craft excellent cocktails, but he has also developed a customer favorite of his own. He shares, “When Crown Peach first came out, I had the bright idea to add a margarita mix to it. Now, I’m not saying that I invented the drink, but it’s quite uncommon for anyone to mix those two together. I’m sure someone will claim they did it first. Our little secret is that they’re not telling the truth.” I can personally vouch for the fact that his Crown Peach Margarita is both refreshing and delightful.
When Joshua goes out, he likes to drink Tito’s Redbull and Ginger Ale; while his favorite cocktail to make would be Flavor Long Islands or The Hurricane. Both of these libations sound deliciously potent.

He describes his best asset behind the bar as his ability to build personal relationships with anyone that walks through the door. He treats everyone like family, and that’s what builds clientele. “Actually, I don’t like being a bartender; I love being one. The reason being you get to hear great music, and it doesn’t really feel like work for me. I love The Page because I get to build amazing relationships with some of the most amazing people from all over the world who just want a good drink. And I would like to give a special thank you to Willie Mackie for giving people like me an opportunity to shine,” Joshua explains.
Customers can tell when a bartender likes their job. Treating customers politely and professionally is one sure sign. But the bartenders who are personable and treat everybody who walks into their establishment with respect and kindness, as well as having the ability to connect quickly and build a friendly rapport with them, have a special gift. Bar owners who have that type of employee behind the bar should consider themselves very lucky.
Like everyone, however, Joshua has his customer pet peeves, which I always like to ask about, so hopefully readers will take notice and refrain from doing that behavior. “My biggest pet peeve would have to be someone throwing something at me to get my attention. My smallest pet peeve is calling Crown Apple (Apple Crown).”
My other favorite question is “What is the craziest/funniest thing you have witnessed when you were behind the bar?” Joshua replied, “It’s a busy weekend Essence Festival in New Orleans and a young guy is at the bar drinking. He took his toupee off and started scratching his head. Not just a regular one; it’s glued down the kind only a hairstylist can fix. It was just the randomness of it all that had everybody in the bar laughing.”
A self-described homebody and gamer. Joshua has almost every game system. He normally works Thursdays 4-close and Sundays from 8-close while the other days vary. Or if you want to go out when he’s working, send him a message on Instagram @justjoshua___
