LGBTQ Horoscopes July 28-August 10, 2020

July 28, 2020 By Dan Beck

At the dawn of the day when this edition of Ambush Magazine is released, the moon will be “buried” far beneath the surface of the earth in the part of the astrology chart that is the vector of home, family, hidden treasure, and the grave.

Many of you probably feel that you’re in a grave, and New Orleans is the city most prepared to handle this phenomenon, as the Crescent City boasts perhaps the most mausoleums per square foot of any municipality. The moon will be highlighting the constellation Libra, the scales, that is simultaneously understood as the claws of the Scorpion. The specific star the moon highlights is Zuben Eschamali which means “northern claw” and is metaphorically called “full price.”

Synthesizing all the aforementioned astrological symbols, there is an emotional belief (the moon signifies this) that everybody has been rendered a harsh, stinging judgment and has paid the price levied by the unprecedented moment in which we find ourselves. The best gift of the price paid is profound, mysterious insights that can only come through isolation; the opposite “gift”, melancholy and malaise.

I feel that this mood will lead to a premature urge to venture outward into the wider world, both through travel and in larger social gatherings. The dominant thought of the zeitgeist is “we’ve paid the price, so why not?”

The moon warns against this, culminating at the top of the sky at dawn, having emerged from beneath the earth, and highlights the head of the constellation Cetus, the sea monster, which indicates danger. This journey of the moon suggests a cautious path as embodied in the story of Andromeda which features the terrifying Cetus. The story goes that after Andromeda’s mother, Queen Cassiopeia, bragged about her daughter’s beauty, Poseidon became enraged, and Andromeda was offered as a sacrifice to sate Cetus who had been sent by Poseidon to wreak havoc. However, Perseus, slayer of Medusa, came to Andromeda’s rescue, flying in on the winged horse Pegasus and killing Cetus.

From scales to claws to sea monsters, myths are entertaining and even touching but ultimately serve as lessons and as a guide. The stars seem to be saying that if you venture out too far, you ironically might not receive the freedom you seek, as Andromeda, highlighted by a very public moon, is chained for all to be seen. And for risks taken, like a mother boasting of her daughter’s beauty, there may not be a hero flying in on Pegasus’  wings to save you.

Aries: March 21 – April 19

You’re intensely emotional. This may lead you to take flight. However, consider the financial consequences of this. Do you really want to spend that money? It probably isn’t even yours to spend.

Taurus: April 20 – May 20

A partner of yours is emotional. This partner is having trouble expressing their feelings. Allow them the space to communicate these feelings. It will strengthen your bond whilst taking the load off you.

Gemini: May 21- June 20

A coworker is throwing shade your way. Realize that it’s about them, not you. It’s up to them whether they want to confront their demons. In the meantime, use the situation to focus on your career dreams.

Cancer: June 21 – July 22

Focus on either romance, creativity, or children as opposed to the structure of a partnership. Partnering with others is essential in life, but self-expression, either through kids, romance, or creativity is a deep emotional need you have. You powerfully transform when you privilege this.

Leo: July 23 – August 22

Happy birthday, Leo! You shine through most of August. Home and family, however, are key for you. Focus on career only if you can make the adjustments that will keep you achieving work/life balance. It’s not so obvious how to achieve this, so be open to what comes your way.

Virgo: August 23 – September 22

Your mind is on emotional overdrive. Your friends are even noticing. Allow these emotions to surface. By the end of the next two weeks, you will have gained great insights into the workings of your mind.

Libra: September 23 – October 22

You have strong feelings about your money. However, it’s your money as related to another’s money. You have the chance to make a powerful move here, but it will require staying grounded with a mindset towards long-term growth. Don’t let the emotions of the moment guide your decision.

Scorpio: October 23 – November 21

Your body is going through a transformation. Don’t go it alone. Rely on a partner to help you through this. This will require you to open up and reach out to that partner, however.

Sagittarius: November 22 – December 21

Through the end of 2021, you will feel like you’re experiencing losses on a personal level. However, you make great gains spiritually. You get a taste of this over the next couple of weeks. You start off feeling isolated, but then make a move towards finding greater appreciation of the simple things in life.

Capricorn: December 22 – January 19

There is a deep emotional undercurrent running underneath a friendship. Try to stay grounded with regard to this situation. If you each state your piece, and not try to dominate the other, you’ll find hidden treasure. Fights are almost never about what is on the surface.

Aquarius: January 20 – February 18

Your emotions are clouding your judgment in the space of your career. This is in regards to money and your workload. This will be an ongoing theme through the end of the year. Make sure to forcefully but judiciously communicate these issues lest unnecessary fights break out.

Pisces: February 19 – March 20

Values and beliefs come to the fore over the next couple of weeks. This is “put your money where your mouth is” kind of stuff. Try not to react too emotionally or force these beliefs on others. By the end of the two weeks, you’re able to integrate these ideas more practically.
