The 2022 Southern Decadence Press Party was recently held at the Bourbon Pub/Parade. Grand Marshals Rikki Redd and Dany Girl announced this year’s theme as “Jazz. Burlesque. Decadent. New Orleans.” The official colors are red and gold—red because it’s the Grand Marshals’ favorite color and gold because this year marks the 50th anniversary of Southern Decadence.
The official poster was also revealed.

According to Redd, “We decided to dedicate the poster to Kathleen Conlon because Kathleen is not only a long time resident of New Orleans, but as a former Southern Decadence Grand Marshal, she is present and still representing. Whenever asked to attend any function, she shows up and dives right in to lend a hand. She knows our history and as the second female SDGM, we feel that she’s deserving of this honor.”
Redd continued, “This year Southern Decadence is dedicated to the people of New Orleans with a special shout out to the LGBTQ community for the love and dedication to Southern Decadence. Our world has endured a lot this past year: Covid 19, hurricanes, tornadoes, the loss of businesses. So this parade is a celebration of the resilience of this city and its people. This party is for y’all.”
There is no official song this year, but there is an official soundtrack. According to Redd, “It’s a mashup of old school burlesque and spiced up with some Christina Aguilera, Dua Lipa, Lady Marmalade, and Cher. The official DJ is Tim Pflueger from Oz.”
An official charity has not yet been selected.
The Southern Decadence Grand Marshal’s parade will take place on Sunday, September 4.
